How We Work

Word Play provides speech, language, and feeding therapy for children and adults across Arizona, with services available at home, in the community, and through telehealth. Our care is personal, practical, and shaped around the skills each person needs to communicate, participate, and connect.

What Makes Word Play Different?

Word Play is built on thoughtful, relationship-based care that meets each person where they are. We take time to understand each client’s strengths, needs, readiness, and goals so therapy can feel personal, respectful, and practical.

Our therapists provide care in familiar places such as home, daycare, school, telehealth, and community settings. This helps us better understand each person’s environment, relationships, communication needs, and opportunities for growth.

Whether we are supporting a child through play, building feeding skills around meals and snacks, or helping an adult with functional daily skills, therapy is shaped around moments that matter.

What a Session Looks Like

Every therapy session is shaped around the person receiving care. Because services take place in familiar settings, therapists can naturally incorporate communication, feeding, and functional skills into everyday activities.

  • For children: Sessions are play-based, interactive, and guided by your child’s interests, strengths, current skills, and readiness for support. Therapists may bring materials, use familiar items from your home, or build therapy into play, meals, daily tasks, and shared moments that are meaningful to your family.

  • For adults: Sessions are respectful, practical, and focused on functional communication, feeding, cognition, and daily living skills. Therapy may include expressing needs, making choices, participating in conversations, using visual supports or AAC, improving mealtime safety, and building skills that support independence.
