Get Started with Therapy at Word Play

How to Begin Services with Word Play

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you do not have to figure it out alone. Our team is here to make the process clear, supportive, and simple from the first conversation.

Contact
Our Team

Call, email, or complete our contact form to connect with our team. We’ll take time to learn more about your needs, answer your questions, and help you understand which services may be the best fit for you, your child, or your family.

Complete Intake & Insurance Information

When you’re ready to move forward, we’ll send the intake paperwork needed to begin the process. This may include basic information, insurance details, consent forms, and any required documents for your payer or program.

Our team will review the information with care and help answer questions along the way, so you know what to expect before services begin.

Authorization & Scheduling

If you are using insurance or a state-funded program, we will help guide you through the authorization process. Once the required steps are complete, we’ll work with you to schedule an evaluation or first session based on availability, service needs, and location.

Do You Need a Referral?

A physician referral may be required before starting services if you are using insurance or a state-funded program. If you are not sure what is needed, our team can help you understand the requirements based on your insurance, funding source, or program.

Insurance & Payment Options

Word Play offers several payment options to help families access care. We currently accept:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield in-network benefits
  • Out-of-network benefits
  • Private pay options
  • DDD services for eligible members
  • ESA funding for eligible students

If you have questions about coverage, we are happy to help you understand your options before getting started.

DDD & ESA Programs

Word Play is a qualified provider with the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and an approved provider for ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) students.

If your family receives support through one of these programs, our team can help coordinate next steps, answer questions, and guide you through the process so services start quickly and smoothly.
